Your best audition shouldn’t be in the car on the way home! And it doesn’t have to be!
Each time I face a group of actors in a panel discussion or seminar, the questions always seem to focus mainly on one area: “How can I gain the maximum amount of control over the experience of auditioning?”
Even the most skilled professionals will experience nervousness or a lack of focus that can get in the way of doing their best work. Many have difficulty with auditions that require ‘cold reading’ of scripts. Others experience confusion around a definite creative choice in their reads, and feel at effect of the words rather than being able to use the script to create their own unique characterization. But—there are solutions…
If you want to experience control and have more fun and creativity at auditions, then I invite you to join me for a powerful, in-depth, weekend workshop in which we examine what may be blocking your creativity and then provide you with real and valuable tools to overcome your barriers.
In “The Empowered Actor” Workshop, you will learn:
- to develop creative vision for the many possibilities available to you in constructing a character.
- to be aware of where the “symptoms” of scripted dialogue are creeping into your reads.
- “Stream of Consciousness” techniques and where they belong in any script.
- to practice real formulas that free you from the fear and distractions that hamper a great audition.
- to experience the maximum control available to you in any audition situation.
“The Empowered Actor” Workshops encompass Friday evening, all-day Saturday and all-day Sunday. All workshops are kept to a minimum number of ten people to ensure everyone a valuable experience. Each participant receives specific assignments customized for them, to help pinpoint areas where they can benefit the most. You can find the syllabus Here and past student comments, Here. Please check our website often for upcoming workshop dates, or contact Stephen at 206.903.6500 with questions.
